Purchasing

For Shipping out of State:

We charge a additional $300.00 dollars for shipping, which includes airfare, crate and health certificate from our vets at Twinsburg animal clinic. I use a medium to large size crate making sure your puppy has a starter crate for your home plus has plenty of room for him or her during their travel. I try to use Continental Flights mainly because I know that they are hand delivered from a temperature control mini van that is only used for pets. Continental also is USDA approved for animals giving them the opportunity to not be limited to heat restrictions. I fly out of Cleveland Hopkins international airport which has many non stop flights which I prefer for the puppy I make all of the reservations on my end and email all info directly to you along with puppy tips and food that we have used here which is Royal Canin Large breed puppy or small breed puppy. We are able to ship 2 puppies in the crate for the same price so this is also something to think about for families and relatives it is a great savings.

If you decide to check flight availability on an airline's website, be aware that just because a flight is listed doesn't mean it handles live cargo. Many of these are "commuter flights", which means they are smaller planes. You must call the airline's pet shipping department for accurate information.

If you would like to fly here to pick up your puppy I am always willing to meet you at the airport but remember depending on the puppies size it still may have to be flown as cargo. If puppy is smaller that 12 pounds it may be flown in cabin with you but you will need a soft sided crate shown below. Also remember that you still will need a health certificate shipping, there is a $25. vet fee for this. I take all the puppies in a litter to the vet on the same day. If the travel certificate needs to be updated, there will be an additional vet charge. What vaccinations will the puppy receive in its early age?  I give a 5 way vaccination which is Canine distemper-AdenovirusType 2 - Parainfluenza - Parvovirus. We do not give Corona or Lepto to puppies till they are 15 weeks or older I also do not believe in the Lymes disease vaccination many puppies have terrible reactions to that particular vaccination.  It's also a good idea to wait at least five days after vaccination (if the puppy only receives one prior to purchase) before picking up your new puppy. This gives it some time to build immunity.

  Importance of a good warranty:
Just a walk home kennel offers a 2 year health warranty on any puppy that you take home we also have a written contract that is signed at time or prior to purchase, this ensures that I have your information and you have your warranty, we also want you to provide the best home along with the best support for you and your new puppy so we highly recommend that you give your new family member the best and healthiest start by using Nuvet Vitamins.

All breeders are not the same:

Read the guarantee carefully which ours is printable on our Contracts page for you to look at. If you're unclear about something in the guarantee, ask the breeder for clarification, and then have her clarify the point in writing. DO NOT assume the breeder will "do the right thing" just because They said They will"  Also, make sure you understand what you're required to do to keep the guarantee in effect.

How long has the breeder been raising  dogs? Does the breeder own both parents of the puppies? Are the puppies registered and will you be given the registration application ("puppy papers") at the time of purchase? Which will be once spay or Neutering is done and proof is sent in.

For Picking up or visitation to purchase:

All of our puppies go home with information on their vaccinations, worming and all around helpful tips. I do use Revolution on all of our puppies before they leave vets like to know that they have been started on heartworm preventative and flea medicine this also works as a wormer that is good for a month it is applied to the back of the neck on their skin.

Most states require breeders to hold puppies until they are at least 8 weeks old.  We keep them for 8 weeks so that the puppy will have their first vaccinations and a good healthy mentality to be the perfect family pet, leaving the litter and mom to early does not give your puppy stability and sound thinking plus taking a puppy early makes them harder to potty train.    A good breeder knows this, and would never let a puppy go at less than 8 weeks of age, even if their state law allows them to.

All airlines require the puppy to be in an "airline approved" pet carrier with food and water cups attached to the gate. I freeze the water in the bowl the night before and give them food at the airport while they are waiting. I always use a bigger than necessary crate for your puppies comfort.

Here at Just a walk home kennel, I do not have a application process I wish to speak to each and every person wishing to have one of our puppies. I truly believe that I can get to know my families by speaking with them, Also just as I want to get to know you and your family also feel comfortable about asking us, about our family and that includes my dogs since they are seen that way to us. You are more than welcome to ask for references. I have many people who are more than happy to talk your ear off about their dog just as they do me in email and calls. Always feel welcome to call before and after getting your puppy but remember every minute spent not with my animals and puppies is a deficit for them. For early deposits I post pictures weekly and try to write what they are achieving each day as they grow so you have an idea of their growth. Please understand we do not allow visitation in the early weeks of the puppies growth they are very needy of their moms and need to be protected till they have their first vaccinations. I know meeting your puppy seems like the best thing to be able to do but, luckily with the doodles their easy going personalities make them all around great dogs and family pets we do not get different personalities within our litters, so coloring and coat are really the key to picking out your new family member. The parents of our puppies are all approved by our family and with my children so I know truly they will make wonderful additions to your family.

FACT: When introducing your new puppy to your other dog; Once you have purchased your new puppy and are ready to bring it home do not take the puppy into the house, let the 2 of them meet on neutral ground. Either bring your other pet in the car to pick up the puppy to enjoy the ride home together or in a part of the yard that your dog does not go to. This will help your other pet to be more open to the transition and not go into protection mode.
